Lions Park Artist Residency: sun, rain, wind
May to October, 2020
In these unprecedented times, there is a calming effect in nature. The beauty in a ray of sunshine, a gentle breeze or the rhythmic sound of the rain, these are the things that grounds us. Inspired by the setting of Lions Park and the community of Port Coquitlam, the artist residency seeks to create an immersive installation through individual stories of sun, rain and wind, collected together to form a united experience.

Installation Week - August 24-31, 2020
The immersive weeklong installation was inspired by the natural setting of the park and the artworks created by the community in various workshops. With crowd control in mind, three installations appeared every few days for a total of nine formations. Each draws the public through the space, to look up, down and discover the nature that surrounds.

Examples of community artworks from the physically distanced Sun, Rain and Wind Workshops.
In collaboration with Foolish Operations, a performance emerged on August 29, 2020 after one workshop and two rehearsals. The movements express the feelings of sunshine across the skin, the flow of water and the suspension of the breeze. The dancers played and responded to nature accompanied by the sound of the fellow and the ever-present trains.
